ES PRINCIPAL TEACHER’S BLOG -JANUARY 28TH

Dear all,

I hope you all had a very restful weekend. I apologise for the late blog it was a busy weekend at SEASAC. The touch girls did well and received the trophy for sportsmanship, so Stacey and I are very proud of their performance both on and off the field. It was very rewarding to be part of the SEASAC experience.

ISY GALA

ISY’s 3rd Annual fundraising Gala will take place on Friday 29th March.   It will take place at the Sule Shangri-La Hotel and will be in their Myanmar Ballroom starting from 6:00pm.  This is a great opportunity for the whole community to come together and celebrate the year’s achievements.  This year’s theme is ‘East meets West’ where we will have entertainment and food from around the world as well as an auction and a 50/50 draw.
Ticket sales are now open with our early bird price of $50 available until 28th February.  There are also a host of sponsorship options available and all the information can be found at our Gala Event Page.  All money raised will go to the ISY Capital Fund.

MOVIE NIGHT

The elementary student council will host a Movie Night on Friday, February 1, 2019.  The movie Sponge Bob: Sponge Out of Water will begin at 6:15.  The event is free to the community although donations are accepted.  Snacks will be available for purchased.  Please join us for this outdoor fun event.

RECYCLING INITIATIVE

Very soon ISY will begin a new recycling initiative.  We are working with an organization called RecyGlo and Bokashi to have recycling programs for paper, plastic, cans, electronic and food waste at our school.  It is very exciting!
In the next few weeks we will introduce the program to students through a variety of public awareness activities.  We hope you can encourage and celebrate these efforts as students will follow your lead.
If you have ideas or suggestion please let us know.  We are seeking staff and students interested in helping organizing public awareness of the project.  Perhaps helping to organize an assembly or develop advertising or develop a curriculum based project.
Your help is needed!

WELCOME

We will begin welcoming our new teachers each week in the blog, our first welcome is below.

Charlie, Jono and their family will be joining us as Grade 2 and 5 teachers.

Hello and greetings from Cairo, Egypt. Our names are Charlie Saunders and Jono O’Sullivan. We have been teaching for over 15 years now and have had the pleasure of working in South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Egypt. We are very excited to be joining the team at ISY and to be apart of such a positive learning community. Jono and I have 2 wonderful daughters, Emily who is 6 years old and Lucy who is 4 years old. Our hobbies include many sports, hanging out with friends, traveling and learning about new cultures and of course many playgrounds for the girls!
We hope everyone enjoys the rest of their school year and we look forward to meeting you all in August!
